You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. I have come across so many varied opinions I wanted to get your opinions on this mod.
Has anybody done this mod or knows about it? Please share. This is the best chain on the market, period. By using the OPTIMUM gearing ratio you essentially lower the final drive ratio the exact percentage that the bike will "top out" in 6th gear due to wind resistance and horsepower restrictions. With the stock gearing your bike has a top speed of about for example But it's not at redline.
With this setup the top speed is STILL and it IS at redline meaning that all of the horsepower is being used to move the bike forward, and it's not being wasted on friction or fighting the motor itself because of the poor factory gearing.
There are a few things that everybody thinking about this setup should take into consideration. Though not difficult to install, we suggest that this not be your first attempt at maintaining or upgrading your motorcycle.
Wheelies are going to be a problem. Possibly not a problem! Depends on your perspective! The improvements are great, and you will have a period of getting accustomed to the increase in power. Abuse voids warranty. Simply put, if you do not maintain the chain or out-right abuse the equipment, there is no warranty. Fuel consumption In 5th 6th gear. On all bikes except the SV as tested, fuel consumption will increase an average of 1 to 2 miles per gallon at cruising speeds.
If you have a cross-country motorcycle that stays in 6th gear for miles or more at a time, we have a chain and sprocket set for that too. We accept no liability whatsoever except for the replacement price of any defective parts. From January of to August, we have had ONE structurally defective sprocket and it was found to be defective far before installation. Extensive testing, quality control models and visual inspection assure that you get the parts you need.
Speedometer issues. Some bikes, when a performance chain and sprocket set is installed, will need speedometer recalibration. There are inexpensive options for this but most bikes do not need any special attention. Joined Oct 14, Messages 70 Reaction score 0 Location odessa.
Most of the kits come with an aluminum rear sprocket. No matter what anyone says, that sprocket won't last as long as the oem steel.
In some cases where the rider is guilty of running a tight chain, the sprocket can be ruined in few hundred miles. Like this: Like Loading Previous Why I ride.

I think the argument for chain is more options for sprocket sizes. But the 43 is available in as well.
I don't see any real advantage to me for , so I'm not doing it. I actually had a brand new stock gearing NIB I got as part of a trade, but opted to sell it and settle in to the sizes by buying an extra 15 and a 14 cs sprocket. I may go with a bigger rear sprocket like you at some point, but very happy with the 14 and 15 with stock rear sprocket.
Only on the gnarly steep do I wish I had a lower gear off-road, and only on the freeway do I ever wish I had anything bigger than the 15 which I try to avoid as much as possible.
DR Grifter. Basically what Dr Grifter said. I was going to do a conversion. Then I read about counter shafts and spline damage with the use of sprockets obtained in South America to be fair. JT Sprockets has and excellent selection as well and Jeff even managed to get them to make 46 and 48T in steel for the DR. There's just so many things available in , I had no reason to stand on The only think I wish for is a 17T in , but no big.
I did the conversion 2 years ago and have had ZERO issues with it since. It only makes sense that a "lighter" chain won't last as long Like many others, I changed over because of the choice of available sprockets at the time That may have been true but it's better now
