It's a Matter of System K-2 Hands-On In this lesson, students will look at a complex system when they create their own play dough by taking several parts and creating a whole. Water 3: Melting and Freezing K-2 Hands-On In this lesson students will investigate how melting and freezing impact three everyday items: water, chocolate, and margarine. Color Burst Hands-On In this lesson, students gain experience asking questions and conducting inquiry by exploring the separation of colors in water and other solvents.

Hot and Cold Colors Hands-On In this lesson, students will explore the effect of heating and cooling on the dispersal of food coloring in water. Salt: Up Close and Personal Hands-On In this lesson, students will view salt under varied magnifications so they can understand that materials may be composed of parts that are too small to be seen without magnification.

The Acid Test Hands-On In this activity, students will prepare a test solution whose color changes when an acid or a base is added. Chemical Engineers and the Things They Do In this lesson, students explore the field of chemical engineering and identify the contributions of chemical engineers to society. A Matter of State Hands-On This lesson will help students understand that particle movement changes as a substance changes from one phase to another phase. The Transfer of Energy 1: Thermochemistry Hands-On This lesson is intended to increase students' understanding of heat and chemical reactions.

The Transfer of Energy 2: Electrochemistry Hands-On This lesson is intended to increase students' understanding of electron transfer and its role in chemical changes.

It's a Crash Test, Dummy In this lesson, students research air bags and use that information to design and test a version of an air bag. The Chemistry of Hair Care Hands-On In this lesson, students learn that the chemistry of hair care, including the role of pH, helps in the development of better hair-care products. Chemistry of Petroleum 1: What Are Hydrocarbons? Chemistry of Petroleum 3: Distillation of Hydrocarbons Video In this lesson, students learn how hydrocarbons in crude oil are distilled and treated in the refinery process to produce useful materials.

Chemistry of Petroleum 4: Treatment of Hydrocarbons Interactive In this lesson, students learn how petroleum fractions are chemically treated in the refinery process to produce useful materials. National Chemistry Week during October 23rd invites scientist, educators, and enthusiasts for seven days of events.

During National Mole Day on October 23, National Chemistry Week encourages us to immerse ourselves in activities and educational programs all related to chemistry. This branch of science focuses on the properties and interactions of matter and energy. Every day, chemistry creates reactions all around us. Whenever we boil an egg, chemistry happens. Expose iron to the elements and a chemical reaction will begin.

As humans began to investigate the various types of reactions, the science expanded. Recognizing and celebrating excellence in chemistry and celebrate your achievements. Diversity in Chemistry Awards Find awards and scholarships advancing diversity in the chemical sciences. Funding to support the advancement of the chemical sciences through research projects. ACS-Hach Programs Learn about financial support for future and current high school chemistry teachers.

Theme: Fast or Slow Chemistry Makes It Go! COVID Guidance: CCA strongly encourages all ACS groups to become aware and follow local, state, federal, and global health and government directives relative to large events and gatherings to address health and safety concerns around the ongoing pandemic.

Resources are available for the planning of in-person and virtual events for NCW National Chemistry Week NCW is a public awareness campaign that promotes the value of chemistry in everyday life. ACS members and chemistry enthusiasts celebrate NCW by coordinating events and communicating the importance of chemistry. Read more about NCW. NCW Banner. Chemists Catalyze Change Buttons.
