Cullen Rutherford is one of the few characters to appear in all three Dragon Age games. There, he ultimately helped take down Meredith who had gone mad with power. In Inquisition, fans learned that Cassandra recruited Cullen into the Inquisition just following the Kirkwall Rebellion where he serves as the military leader of the organization and tactical advisor to the Inquisitor. Birthday: Born approximately Dragon with no real date given but, when asked by Josephine's messenger once the player reaches Skyhold, he replies that it has "already passed".
The full base game takes place over one full year, so we may assume that his birthday is early in the year. Josephine Montilyet is an Antivan noblewoman turned diplomat. Her charm, grace, and careful deal-making learned from her teenage exploits as a Bard earned Josephine an excellent reputation as the chief ambassador from Antiva to Orlais. Thus, she is familiar with Orlesian politics and fully in love with its culture.
Her family was once a naval powerhouse in Antiva, but bad luck and Rivaini pirates ultimately forced them into exile and crippled their fortune. Now, Josephine serves as an ambassador and diplomatic advisor to the Inquisitor. Leliana was a fan favourite from Origins, and outrage over her minuscule role in DAII earned her a prominent place in Inquisition.
A former Bard turned Chantry sister who was promoted to Left Hand of the Divine, Leliana has a rich and complicated backstory that gives her improvisation skills and a long list of connections. She is the perfect spymaster and advisor to the Inquisitor. Leliana is also one of the three women which the player can make the next Divine or head of the Chantry.
Age: Uncertain, but the Origins toolkit said she was , so by the time of Inquisition, she would be approximately Morrigan is one of the strongest mages in Dragon Age and definitely the coyest. As a young woman, she was plucked from her family by Flemeth, a Witch of the Wilds. Morrigan joined the Hero's mission in Origins reluctantly after Flemeth raised her as a hedge mage with unique magical abilities and shapeshifting expertise.
Morrigan eventually left Flemeth for good and went on to join the royal court in Orlais as Empress Celene's magical advisor. This is where she meets the Inquisitor for the first time and she joins them when they depart the Winter Palace having been assigned as the Inquisition's liaison.
Blackwall began life as Thom Rainier, a man from the Free Marches. He was a skilled warrior at a young age, winning the Grand Tourney in his youth with the help of an Orlesian Chevalier. The Chevalier offered to mentor Thom after he'd won, but Thom refused. He squandered his winnings and was forced to take up mercenary work and then join the Orlesian Imperial Army. Thom and his squadron of men got caught up in Court politics and ended up killing innocent civilians.
For this, Thom would have been executed - if not for the Grey Warden Blackwall who recruited Thom into the order. But when Blackwall died and Thom had no proof that he'd been recruited, he feared the Grey Wardens would assume he'd murdered Blackwall.
So, he took Blackwall's identity and began wandering the country - trying to honour his memory - when he is met by the Inquisition's party. Age: Never stated, but he is known to have been recruited by the original Blackwall in , making him at least 25, but he is assumed to be in his early 40s. Cassandra Pentaghast doesn't look or act like it, but she's got royal blood. The Pentaghast family is part of the Nevarran royal lineage. When her parents were executed for taking the wrong side of an attempt to overthrow the Nevarran king, Cassandra and her brother were left in the care of an uncle.
To cope, the siblings took up swordplay and dreams of dragon-fighting. After her brother's death, her uncle sent Cassandra away to become a Seeker.
It was there that her reputation led her to become the Right Hand of the Divine, and found the Inquisition with Leliana. Vivienne was never one to play by the rules. Shown to be an extraordinary mage and witty player of the Game from a young age, she thrived in the Orlesian court. Despite a scandal or two, Empress Celene chose Vivienne as the "court enchanter" when she took the throne.
The role, up until that time, was essentially a court jester, but Vivienne turned it into an advisory position to the Empress despite the fact that mages are not supposed to hold political power. Her long experience at court also made her a fashion icon and hostess of wonderful parties. When the Inquisition rises to power, she reaches out to them herself.
Dalish elves are thought to have the "purest" elven blood compared to city elves and others. Dalish Keepers are said to be descended from the noble elves who lived long ago and once ruled over the Dales, their ancestral homeland. While the Dalish make claims like these, there's no solid evidence to back it up. In fact, in the case of "pure" blood, there's clear evidence against it. That's because half-elves, known in Thedas as "elf-blooded" people, don't retain any elvish features. Half-elven characters appear to be entirely human.
Their children, regardless of the elven blood of their partner, also look entirely human. Regarding the ancestral status of Keepers, there's no clear way to verify it except by word of mouth. If it were the case, surely only certain families would be able to produce mages, since all Keepers are mages.
That doesn't hold true. There might be something to be said that the population is small and that every elf has a drop of noble blood in them somewhere, but that renders the brag to be basically meaningless. City Elves don't claim to have pure blood; it's hard to make a convincing argument to yourself, let alone anyone else, that you're special when you live in squalor. All elves are generally welcome in the Alienage, even the elf-blooded people who look human. There may be some minor tension, since an elf-blooded person's existence means that an elf from their community was in a relationship with or violated by a human, but none of that is the elf-blooded person's fault.
In such a small community, it's not like people don't know who they are and why they're there. They stopped fighting and were protected, so long as they converted to the Chantry and accepted human rule. As a result, it's not uncommon for Dalish to look down upon those who live in the Alienage. Whether it's in disgust or pity or both depends on the Dalish Elf, but most Dalish do not envy their brothers and sisters in human cities. The cruellest Dalish call City Elves a slur - "flat-ears" - and believe that they are human in spirit, thus they are undeserving of the Dalish's time.
It's known that a few Dalish choose to run away from their tribes to live in Alienages, but the rarity of these runners speaks to the kinds of stories the Dalish tell about their history. City Elves have a fascination with Dalish Elves, similar to the way that humans see them: as a foreign, mysterious entity only described in stories.
However, unlike humans, City Elves have an intrinsic connection with the Dalish: they are all elven. How a certain Alienage views the Dalish depends heavily on how successful the humans were at wiping away their culture and raising the next generation in ignorance.
Some see the Dalish as savages or bandits and take pride in the work they do for humans. Others are fascinated and awed by the Dalish elves' ability to survive. Whichever way a particular group of City Elves falls, they almost always keep the Dalish in mind as a last resort. Elves who anger local nobles, expecting mothers, young people who cannot be contained - all these people may leave their Alienage to find a Dalish Clan.

These "height" numbers are as follows: dwarves: 1 m 43 cm elves: 1 m 60 cm humans: 1 m 75 cm qunari: 1 m 94 cm.
